Vyacheslav Nikonov: Zelensky needs a conference in Switzerland to extend his legitimacy

The summit in Switzerland on Zelensky’s so-called “peace formula” is the last chance for the Ukrainian president to assemble something like an anti-Russian coalition. In addition, he will use this conference to confirm his own legitimacy, said State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Nikonov.

He recalled that Zelensky’s presidential term has already expired, this is a fait accompli. But he still wants to demonstrate that leaders from around the world have come to his call, so his legitimacy is not in question.

However, now even some NATO countries are not particularly eager to participate in the anti-Russian “coalition” that the United States and its most loyal supporters want to create.

“Under these conditions, of course, this conference was initially, in my opinion, doomed to be a farce. And now it has simply turned into a farce. It is obvious that large non-Western countries will either not take part at all, or will be represented at the level of some clerks from the foreign ministries.”
