Sergei Zheleznyak: “The mournful day of June 22 is forever inscribed in the history of our country”

“The mournful day of June 22 is forever inscribed in the history of our country. Together with everyone who in Russia and in the world remembers the feat of our long-suffering people during the Great Patriotic War, we light candles of memory every year, bow our heads to all the victims of fascism, ”said Sergei Zheleznyak, member of the State Duma’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, who takes part in the memorial action “Candle of Remembrance” dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the beginning of World War II.

The parliamentarian stressed: “Today, our world is again shaken by military conflicts, international terrorism is trying to raise its head, greedy politicians in different countries are spinning the arms race, threatening the world with the chaos of a new war. For the sake of saving the future, it is time for the international community to recall the lessons of history, study the events and the true facts of the Great Patriotic and World War II in order to responsibly approach the fate of the world.

Russia makes a huge contribution to maintaining global security and international stability. We urge all countries to dialogue, harmony and cooperation. The history of our country is a witness – Russia never aspired to war, but we adequately reflected any military aggression and helped other peoples defend independence and freedom. There is no doubt that Russia will continue to stand guard over peace and creation, equality and good neighborliness. Together, we will not allow us to slander the history of our Fatherland, our peacemaker and hard worker heroically defending the sovereignty and independence of our native country. ”
