Sergei Zheleznyak: “The next attempts of American Russophobes to put a spoke in the wheels of the Russian-European project Nord Stream 2 are doomed to failure”

“The intention of the Appropriations Committee of the US House of Representatives to push through an amendment designed to annul the decision of the Head of the White House to abandon sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will not stop the project, which is practically completed.” This opinion was expressed by a member of the international affairs committee Sergei Zheleznyak.

According to him: “The next attempts of American Russophobes to put a spoke in the wheels of the Russian-European project Nord Stream 2 are doomed to failure. US lawmakers understand this too, but portraying a fierce struggle with Russia is necessary in order to work off the money of energy tycoons who dream of a European market, as well as to continue manipulating public opinion, maintaining a high degree of anti-Russian hysteria in the United States. ”

“One should not expect that the US leadership has come to terms with the strengthening of the Russian-European partnership in the field of energy. It is obvious that sanctions and pressure from Washington on Russia and our partners will continue and may acquire new forms. The rhetoric adhered to in the American administration does not yet allow us to expect that our countries have overcome the crisis of mistrust, despite the constructiveness of the summit meeting. Until the agreements between the presidents take the form of business consultations on key issues of international development, bilateral relations between Russia and the United States will stall. Russia is ready for dialogue, ”Zheleznyak added.
