“The tenacity with which the United States is preventing Russian-European cooperation is worthy of better application. The new sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline approved by the US Department of Justice, as well as the intention to appoint a special representative to “destroy” the project, are viewed by Washington as yet another attempt to put pressure on the project participants and disrupt the work. The hybrid war unleashed by the United States against our country is gaining an ever-increasing scale and is becoming a threat of a protracted crisis not in bilateral, but in international relations, ”said Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee.
He stressed that “the United States has a chance not to drive Russian-American relations into a dead end if Washington changes its unjustifiably aggressive tone, stops inciting neighboring states to provocations against our country and shows its readiness for a meaningful and constructive dialogue.”
“The multiple accusations that the United States brings against Russia are absolutely unfounded and are aimed exclusively at one task – to restrain the development of our country and prevent the strengthening of international ties with other states. Washington’s main goal is to destroy, through unfair competition, all who interfere with the maintenance of US hegemony. Russia’s economic cooperation with Europe, including in the field of energy security, prevents the American authorities and tycoons from imposing their expensive liquefied gas on all of Europe. Now it depends on the degree of sovereignty of European countries when the Nord Stream-2 will be completed and launched, – the politician noted.
