Sergei Zheleznyak: “The resolution of the European Parliament on the imposition of sanctions against Nord Stream 2 and the disconnection of Russia from SWIFT suggests that the EP is ruled by Russophobes”

“The European Parliament’s resolution calling for the imposition of sanctions against Nord Stream 2 and the disconnection of Russia from the SWIFT system indicates that the EP is ruled by Russophobes who are trying to provoke a final break with our country.” This opinion was expressed by Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee.

He stressed: “The European Parliament constantly calls for increased pressure against our country, we are constantly threatened with new sanctions that have no basis. European Russophobes, apparently, cannot believe that the language of sanctions and threats is not suitable for international dialogue with Russia. Instead of strengthening integration on a number of major world problems, such representatives of European politics are widening the chasm of mistrust between countries, endangering the economic and energy stability of the European continent and the system of collective security.

We are witnessing the degradation of European diplomacy. Instead of civilized interaction, European bureaucrats follow the path of supporting illegal restrictions on independent countries, whose sovereignty is an irritant for such structures as the European Parliament or the US Senate.”

“Russia will be able to respond to all the challenges, but we are very sorry that certain European political forces are following the Russophobes, acting contrary to the interests of their citizens,” the parliamentarian added.
