Sergei Zheleznyak: “The United States is constantly putting forward certain conditions under which it is ready to conduct a dialogue with Russia, and does not stop threatening with sanctions”

“The United States is constantly putting forward certain conditions under which it is ready to conduct a dialogue with Russia, and does not stop threatening with sanctions. At the same time, Russia is convinced that our countries should establish communication exclusively on an equal footing, discarding all political differences. This dialogue is important not only for Russia and the United States. It is obvious that a huge number of global problems have accumulated, the resolution of which in the interests of security is possible only through joint actions. ” This is how Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, commented on the statement of the US Secretary of State.

According to the politician: “Russia, primarily in the person of the head of state, constantly proposes a constructive agenda for international partners, even for those who behave on the world stage like an elephant in a china shop. Our country proceeds solely from considerations of maintaining peace and stability, and therefore does not respond harshly to outright provocations. We still rely on the prudence and common sense of our opponents, who must understand that no one needs confrontation. Russia protects the sovereignty and integrity of the country’s territory, guarantees the protection of the rights of its own citizens and invites foreign partners to respect each other’s interests.

Russia is open to cooperation on all key issues with the United States and other countries. It is necessary to solve climate problems, curb the arms race, return to the START III treaty, the open skies treaty and many other topics that concern all countries of the world. We are waiting for concrete and constructive steps by the United States, and not just empty statements and conversations, the time of which has passed.”
