Sergey Zheleznyak: “A number of members of the European Parliament have long and hopelessly been infected with Russophobia”

“A number of members of the European Parliament have long and hopelessly been infected by Russophobia. This is the only way to explain the absurd ideas about Russia’s desire to break up the EU in a pandemic, which some representatives of the EP are trying to formulate in the form of a resolution under the loud title “On coordinated EU actions to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences.” This was stated by a member of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Sergey Zheleznyak.

According to the politician: “The actions of a number of members of the European Parliament once again testify to the lack of European ability to unity in a crisis situation. The European Union, if it falls apart, it is at the hands of the EU members themselves who are tired of the crazy ideas and unprofessional, helpless actions of European officials, divorced from real events in Europe and the world. The development model of the situation with the spread of coronavirus throughout Europe is largely the result of the fragmentation and selfishness of individual countries of the association in relation to each other. EU pseudo-unity crumbles before our eyes. Seeing this threatening trend, the European bureaucrats are frantically looking for the guilty on the side, imposing outright fakes on their citizens. It is possible that the aggravation of anti-Russian sentiment is actively supported by the Russophobic lobby in the United States. ”

“Everyone who broadcasts lies about our country, which in the forefront of the fight against the spread of a pandemic, commit a crime against their own citizens, truth and freedom of speech. By false statements, representatives of the EP intentionally mislead Europeans about the actions of our country so as not to preserve the myth they created about Russia as the center of world evil. The European bureaucrats, to the detriment of the interests of their own citizens, neglect the joint efforts with Russia and China, which are ready to cooperate with other countries in countering the spread of the virus, ”the deputy emphasized.
