Sergey Zheleznyak: “Attack of drones can lead to global conflict”

The State Duma has no doubt that the drone attack on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia was carried out in order to aggravate the situation in the Middle East, a REGNUM correspondent reports September 16.

“The danger lies not only in price spikes in the oil markets. A large number of countries can be drawn into the orbit of provocation, including in other regions, which can inflame the conflict on a global scale, ”said Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (United Russia).

According to the parliamentarian, the beneficiary in this situation, among other things, is the American hawks, who are happy to cling to the idea of a retaliatory strike against Iran, which Washington is constantly trying to put pressure on and blame for all the problems of the region.

In Russia, they are following developments with concern. The parliamentarian is convinced that the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East will be one of the topics of today’s meeting of the leaders of Russia and Iran.

“This issue also clearly requires attention from the UN Security Council in order to cool the degree of conflict and not allow it to develop into a military confrontation,” said Zheleznyak.
