Sergey Zheleznyak: “Britain invents enemies and then begins an artificial confrontation with them”

Almost £300 million from the budget of Great Britain are intended to struggle against Russia on open spaces of the Internet. The creation of a special cyber-division to confront the Russian Federation was announced.

Earlier the establishment of such a structure was reported by the Sky News television channel referring to the plan of the British Defense Ministry and the Government Communications Center.

“Great Britain invents enemies to itself and then begins an artificial confrontation with them” – explained Sergey Zheleznyak, member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs. The consequence of “hysteria about possible actions of invented opponents” was the creation of a cyber-unit.

“Such an interesting way of extracting money from taxpayers was invented by British politicians” – he said.

According to Zheleznyak, the British authorities should somehow justify spending almost £300 million from the UK budget to fight against Russia on the Internet.

“It will be very difficult to do it for the Prime Minister Theresa May’s government against the background of a painful Brexit from the EU and subsequent financial losses,” the MP said, adding that the British Prime Minister has recently made mistakes that could lead to her resignation. As an example, MP Zheleznyak cited “a protracted and already obviously directed the Skripal affair that demonstrated all the intensity of lies of the British authorities.”
