Sergey Zheleznyak commented on the decision of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Council of Europe to create a global sanctions regime for violations of human rights

“The European Union is preparing to accept new restrictions, placing under this discriminatory idea a certain mechanism controlled by them to include in the sanctions lists all those whom European officials will appoint guilty of human rights violations.” This is how Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, commented on the decision of the Council of Europe Foreign Ministers to create a global regime of sanctions for violations of human rights, no one has yet been blacklisted.

“The destructive way of thinking of Brussels officials remains inert in their activities, does not bring any creativity into internal European processes and negatively affects the EU’s foreign policy. In fact, the European bureaucracy has long lost any connection with the peoples of European countries and does not reflect their interests, eroding the issues of national sovereignty of specific countries. Thus, the pseudo-unity of the EU becomes a political and economic burden for the members of the Union, preventing them from developing, cooperating and making decisions in the interests of citizens, ”the politician notes.
“It is obvious that, preparing for the adoption of new sanctions measures, EU officials will first of all consider Russia, our enterprises and citizens as the target of the attack, who in Brussels, in agreement with Washington, will be chosen as guilty of human rights violations on any grounds. So we should expect an invention by Russophobes from the EU of reasons for imposing these sanctions and attempts to put forward other “sensational” ideas about what else can be imposed on our country, “the parliamentarian added.
