Sergey Zheleznyak commented on the situation with the help of Russia in the fight against coronavirus in Italy

Member of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Sergey Zheleznyak commented on the situation with the help of Russia in the fight against coronavirus in Italy.

He noted: “The various insinuations surrounding the topic of Russian assistance to Italy in the fight against coronavirus may not have been worth paying much attention to. The main task of epidemiological assistance from Russia remains to prevent the further spread of the epidemic and save the lives of citizens. That is why now it is very important not to allow the dissemination of information fakes about Russian specialists and about the goals of providing our humanitarian assistance to other countries. ”

The politician emphasized: “The allegations and absurd allegations of Russia’s intention to influence the politics of other countries in exchange for help in the fight against coronavirus are nothing more than lies and provocation. Italian Prime Minister Conte has already expressed his indignation on this matter. But some figures especially infected with Russophobia, especially immigrants from neighboring countries, especially from Ukraine, who settled in Europe, continue to be hysterical and even try to discern evil intentions in Russia’s humanitarian aid. Obviously, statements with an attempt to convict Russia of a certain self-interest, circulated in the media by individual figures from Western countries, are a political order directed against our country.

There is no and cannot be any political background in Russia’s actions. Our country never acts by the methods preferred in countries with the so-called Western democracy. We do not sell help to people for lifting sanctions and getting preferences. In Russia, they hold the position that the current pandemic is a challenge to all of humanity and if we do not help each other, we cannot cope individually. ”
