Germany needs to demonstrate example to other states and provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people, instead of uttering threats of new bombing strikes, says Sergey Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma’s Committee on International Affairs.
Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Germany was in favor of a political decision on Syria, however not paying attention to the use of any chemical weapons anywhere in violation of the international convention cannot be the answer.
“Germany as an influential country in the European Union should demonstrate example to other states and provide humanitarian assistance to the suffering Syrian people, instead of uttering threats of new bombing strikes” – deputy Zheleznyak’s press service quotes him.
“The official Damascus at the request of Russiahas long ago liquidated the existing chemical weapons under international control, in contrast to the militants, whose provocateurs eagering to change the state system and the authorities supply them with components for the production of chemical weapons and, without hiding, prepare another fake of chemical poisoning of civilians,” – he added.
In his opinion the UN Security Council should pay very close attention to the situation in Syria and take all measures to prevent any shakening of the situation around the country that has the right to peace and self-determination.
