Sergey Zheleznyak: “Losing partners in Europe, the US is trying to strengthen relations with Israel”

Member of the Committee on International Affairs Sergey Zheleznyak:

“The President of the USA regularly agitates the public with his provocative statements. The actions of the head of the White House in the external arena are impulsive. In the case of the intention to recognize the Golan Heights as the territory of Israel, Washington began to prepare for this in advance, beginning with the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the transfer of the embassy to Jerusalem, and then an attempt to legislate recognition of Israeli rights to the Golan heights.

US policy in the Middle East is clearly destructive. The US’s next irresponsible move is aimed at trying to put pressure on Syria, Iran and other countries in the region. Losing partners in Europe, the United States is trying to strengthen relations with Israel, simultaneously showing its aggressive nature to neighboring countries.

Washington declares the peacemaking nature of its mission, but in fact confronts the interests of different states and provokes a new conflict. Russia’s position on the Golan Heights is known. Our country is categorically against the gross violation of international law and UN resolutions by the United States in respect of sovereign countries. Destructive actions of the United States should receive a proper assessment of the UN Security Council. ” That is how Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee, commented on the statement of the US President.
