Sergey Zheleznyak: “Permitting Denmark to use new vessels to complete the Nord Stream-2 project is an important step in Europe towards freeing itself from American dictatorship”

“Denmark’s permission to engage new vessels to complete the Nord Stream 2 project is an important step in Europe towards freeing itself from American dictatorship. Despite the fact that the agreement of the official Copenhagen is not political, but technical in nature, this will be a signal for the US about the intention of European partners to defend their own interests, including in matters of energy security. ” This was stated by a member of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Sergey Zheleznyak.

“European participants are beginning to realize their responsibility for a joint project with Russia. High-quality and inexpensive Russian gas is very necessary for Europeans. Obviously, the position of the main player in Europe – Berlin, had a significant impact on the position of other European countries regarding Nord Stream-2. The head of Germany, Angela Merkel, has recently been particularly irritated about the inappropriate politicization of the US economic project, demonstrating dissatisfaction with interference in regional European affairs that should not concern Washington.

The United States will certainly react to the actions of Europe, which Washington constantly threatens with sanctions, continuing to demand from participating countries to abandon the Russian-European project. But the goals of the United States have long been obvious to everyone – to impose their expensive liquefied natural gas. Denmark’s acceptance of the continuation of Nord Stream 2 is further evidence that Europe is tired of the US political and economic dictatorship. ”
