Sergey Zheleznyak: Resolution of the French Senate on the NKR is more likely caused by jealousy of the peacekeeping of the Russian Federation

The consideration of the resolution on Nagorno-Karabakh by the French Senate may demonstrate the readiness of the country’s politicians to continue working within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, however, the Western partners, apparently, were jealous of Russia’s success in resolving the conflict and rushed to catch up on the situation, a member of the State Duma committee told RIA Novosti on international affairs Sergey Zheleznyak.

Earlier it was reported that the French Senate will consider a resolution in which the senators urge the country’s authorities to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“French senators are trying to take part in the situation with Nagorno-Karabakh, proposing to consider a resolution in which they call on the country’s authorities to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. It is necessary to understand that this initiative will only have a recommendatory character. We hope that this step demonstrates the readiness of French politicians to continue working within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group on resolving the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, “Zheleznyak said.

According to the parliamentarian, Russia’s western partners in the Minsk Group “reacted with jealousy to Russia’s success in resolving the conflict and hastened to catch up on the situation.”

“At the same time, the head of Armenia appealed to the leadership of the United States and France with a request to provide assistance. But only Russia and personally the President of our country, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, managed to make the truce in Nagorno-Karabakh a reality. a decisive role in ending hostilities and ending the bloodshed, “he added.

Zheleznyak stressed that at this stage, the introduction of Russian peacekeepers was the only correct decision: it allowed not to bring the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh to an irreversible humanitarian catastrophe and save the lives of many peaceful people.

“The agreements reached create a basis for a dialogue between the parties and the development of a constructive solution on the future of Nagorno-Karabakh. In this process, the key participants should be Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan, and not other countries. Peace in Nagorno-Karabakh has been achieved at a great price, and the international community is obliged to support it. , creating conditions for negotiations and not provoking the sides of the ongoing confrontation, “the deputy added.
