Sergey Zheleznyak: “Russia’s position remains unchanged – we will always defend our national interests with full respect for the sovereignty of other countries and international law”

“The position of Russia remains unchanged – we will always defend our national interests with full respect for the sovereignty of other countries and international law. Perhaps, these are the main meanings formulated in the speech of the head of our state, Vladimir Putin, during his video address to the 75th UN General Assembly. ” This opinion was expressed by a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Sergei Zheleznyak.

The politician stressed: “Among the priorities for Russia, as before, are the well-being of our citizens, the preservation of peace and security, nuclear deterrence, an equal dialogue with the peoples of the world, and environmental protection. Our country reaffirms its adherence to the law, and not to the rules that some Western politicians invented and seek to impose on others. Attempts by individual countries to neutralize the system of international order formed for decades lead to its imbalance and increase the risks of losing balance. The destruction of international treaties, the refusal of collective responsibility for maintaining peace and stability provokes disunity among countries in the face of global challenges, such as the pandemic that all peoples faced this year. Our President has made an appeal for unification, restoration of confidence in international relations, renunciation of the methods of illegal sanctions, trade wars and political blackmail. As in the famous Munich speech, the Russian leader showed that he consistently adheres to the strategy of transition to a multipolar world. ”

“With regard to reforming the UN system, created to preserve global peace, the key international organization is obliged to preserve its inherent content, but more actively use more effective instruments of influence, and not just declarations that some countries allow themselves to violate, declaring themselves an exclusive nation. As the head of our state noted, the UN should today reflect reality, focus on the multipolarity of the world, provide effective support to countries in protecting their national sovereignty, preserve the unique institution of the veto for the UN Security Council member states, ”the MP said.

According to the parliamentarian: “Russia, represented by our President, demonstrates that it remains a reliable guarantor of the protection of the system of universal human values. We again propose breaking down the barriers to partnership in all spheres of life, from economy and security to environmental protection. Russia is ready to work together on solving any complex problems, is open to cooperation in developing the anti-epidemiological sphere, improving the health care system, and also continues to make efforts to maintain the nuclear balance and global stability, to which the head of our state calls on other countries. “
