Sergey Zheleznyak: “The dramatic serial Brexit continues, despite the tiredness of British society and irritation from the EU”

“The dramatic Brexit series continues, despite the tiredness of British society and EU annoyance. The Prime Minister is trying to shift the blame for delaying the process to the Parliament, which accuses the head of the booth for failing negotiations with the European Union. London is losing its party due to an internal political crisis and will be forced to leave the EU with or without an agreement, but on terms dictated by Brussels. The postponement of withdrawal from the EU, which London is once again requesting, is just a pause, during which time it will be necessary to choose a further development path. This opinion was expressed by a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Sergey Zheleznyak.

The deputy noted: “The exit option without an agreement, which is still not excluded, will hit primarily the citizens of Great Britain. This is understood both in the British Parliament and in the Cabinet. In Brussels, against this background, there is growing discontent on the part of the members of the Union, claiming the inability of the leadership of London to reach internal consensus and keep its word. Obviously, the EU is ready for a tough scenario that could be a clear demonstration to other EU members of the possible consequences of a “divorce”.

“Brexit’s slipping due to the fault of London is embarrassing for the European Parliament election process, in which, logically, the UK should no longer be involved. The leading EU countries with obvious irritation perceive the situation, complicating relations with Albion for the years ahead. No matter how Ms. May tries to shift responsibility for dragging out the situation to the national parliament, she will remain the main culprit of the crisis around Brexit, both in the eyes of her own citizens and among European colleagues. ”
