Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement regarding the impossibility of winning the military conflict with Russia indicates that Kyiv is preparing the people of Ukraine for the permanent loss of the Donbas, as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Svetlana Zhurova, First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, stated this to *Gazeta.Ru*.
“He is gradually conditioning the public to the idea that this will happen. It is evident that the previous level of support from the West—including financial aid—is no longer there. He is also facing internal issues, including problems with corruption,” the MP said.
She also noted that at the onset of hostilities with Russia, Zelenskyy had held a completely different position.
Earlier, the head of the Kyiv regime stated in an interview with CBC News that there could no longer be any winners in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and that the only form of victory would be a cessation of hostilities. Yet, just two years ago, Zelenskyy had insisted that it was the Ukrainians who must emerge victorious in the confrontation with Russia.
