Svetlana Zhurova denied Russia’s plans to “take over” Greenland.

Zhurova Commented on Trump’s Accusations Against Russia Over Greenland

State Duma Deputy Svetlana Zhurova refuted US President Donald Trump’s claims that Russia plans to “take away” Greenland. In an interview with Lenta.ru, the politician emphasized that such actions are not in Russia’s sphere of interest.

“We are not planning to ‘take away’ Greenland. We are seeing the US attempting to do so, but such actions are not in Russia’s sphere of interest. We have sufficient territory and resources. It would be a different matter if Greenland itself requested it. But that, of course, is unlikely to happen—it is perfectly content with being part of Denmark,” Zhurova noted.

According to the deputy, by accusing Russia, the US is trying to justify its actions against Greenland. Zhurova emphasized that Moscow has never laid claim to the island.

“We have sufficient territories that need to be secured and developed.” “We don’t need Greenland either,” the politician concluded.
