Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Svetlana Zhurova, in an interview with a correspondent of RB Sport, shared her opinion that the Russian national football team is going to be removed from international competitions.
According to Reuters, FIFA is considering the option of removing the Russian team from international tournaments.
“We understand that there is no need to drag politics into these decisions. There is no need to run ahead of events, because negotiations are underway. Perhaps now all issues will be settled, and then what will happen? Athletes have nothing to do with this, just like ordinary people. In other countries, people perceive Ukrainians and Russians in the same way, because most of them speak Russian.
It is no good that we are not allowed to hold and participate in football matches. Although, perhaps, young players will be delighted and prove themselves, and then they will move from the first league to the highest, because, perhaps, foreigners will leave. To cancel the matches of the Russian national team is a strange decision,” said Zhurova.
