A meeting of the PACE Commission on Culture, Science, Education and Media was held online today. At it, the representative of Russia, State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova was appointed deputy chairman of the subcommittee on education, youth affairs and sports.
At the meeting Zhurova presented amendments to the resolution “Strengthening the role of youth in the prevention and resolution of conflicts”.
While appreciating the work of the UN, the Assembly invites relevant UN agencies to strengthen independent data collection efforts to correctly assess the number of young people affected by various conflicts around the world and identify important partners among youth organizations and young peacekeepers in conflict-affected communities. The amendments that I have introduced say that in the future, it is necessary to look for ways of how to create comprehensive mechanisms to ensure the real participation of young people in peace processes and the resolution of disputes.
