Olympic champion, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova, in an interview with Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda (radiokp.ru), commented on the decision of the anti-doping agency to admit Kamila Valieva to further performances at the Olympic Games.
“Now the trial will continue,” Zhurova said. “And in the history of the Olympics, this happened for the first time – for the awards to be postponed like that.”
The deputy hopes that the Russian team of figure skaters will receive gold medals during the competition, and not after them.
“Lawyers who understand the situation are also not easy. They need to cope with the flow of pressure and at the same time make a fair decision. The truth, rather, is on our side, since there were multiple violations by WADA. We are still waiting for some kind of statement from the anti-doping agency. I would be glad if they leave Camila behind and let her perform normally in personal competitions, although, of course, there will be questions for her, ”summed up Svetlana Zhurova.
