Vitaly Milonov, member of the Committee on International Affairs confirmed that in the 1990s Europe was indulgently communicating with Russia in the hope that “it will follow the path of self-destruction.” As its positions strengthened, rhetoric changed toward tightening.
“It was long ago to quitthe organizationand it is natural, since the position of the Assembly does not correlate with Russia’s national interests. It is an organization for weak, driven countries of limited sovereignty. Recently, this venue is used exclusively for public defamation of our country” – the deputy said.
Vitaly Milonov said that the ability to negotiate is very important. But a dialogue implies at least two interlocutors. However, the PACE prefers the form of a monologue.
“European countries are ready to take any anti-Russian decisions for any gift, for prospects of association or membership. Small statesin sense of their historical role and political weight believe that they can show their greatness by the right of veto, by some sharp steps. Let PACE remain a comfortable venue for them, but not for Russia” – MP Milonov said.
