Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, abbreviated Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a federal executive body of the Russian Federation that exercises state administration in the sphere of relations of the Russian Federation with foreign states and international organizations.
The Ministry is subordinate to the President of the Russian Federation on matters assigned to it by the Constitution, or in accordance with the legislative acts of the Russian Federation.
It is headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs; since 2004 the post is occupied by Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov.
