The State Duma of the Russian Federation is one of the chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation – the Parliament of the Russian Federation. The highest legislative authority in the Russian Federation, along with the Federation Council, whose legal status is defined in the fifth chapter of the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Elected by citizens of the Russian Federation on the basis of universal equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot for a period of five years.
