Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with the chairman of the Geopolitical Group 12+ in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Portuguese MP Duarte Pacheco, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
The meeting exchanged views on various areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the modern period was emphasized.
Mammadyarov noted the successful cooperation of Azerbaijan with the parliamentary assemblies of the CIS, the Council of Europe and other international organizations.
Duarte Pacheco said that the structure he represents is interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan, has brought to attention that he will make efforts to strengthen the relations between Azerbaijan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
