Forty-ninth meeting of the PABSEC Committee on Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Issues, Tirana, 19-20 October 2017

The forty-ninth meeting of the PABSEC Committee on Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Issues was held in Tirana on October 19-20, 2017, at the invitation of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the PABSEC Committee on Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Issues and a member of the Greek delegation to the PABSEC, Ms. Sofia Voultepsi.

The meeting was addressed by the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania, Mrs. Vasilika Hishi, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Albania, Mrs. Albana Shkurta and PABSEC Secretary General, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev.

National delegations of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Turkey participated in the meeting.

A member of the Russian delegation to the PABSEC, Mr. Maxim Shablykin, presented the draft report “Development of the National Innovation System in the BSEC Member States”.

The Committee approved the drafts of the Report and Recommendation 158/2017 on the theme “Development of the National Innovation System in the BSEC Member States”, which will be submitted for consideration to the Fiftieth Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly, which will be held in Kiev on 28-30 November 2017.

The Committee members decided to postpone elections for the post of Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Issues until the next meeting of the Committee.

The fiftieth meeting of the Committee will be held on March 14-15, 2018 in Baku. The main item on the agenda will be “Prospects for the development of the digital economy in the BSEC member countries”.
