Parliamentarians from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Serbia are to take part in the latest regional webinar on the role of national parliaments in implementing the European Convention on Human Rights and ensuring the execution of judgments by the Strasbourg Court.
The virtual event, taking place on 27 October 2020, will cover topics such as parliamentary scrutiny of new laws to ensure they are compatible with human rights standards, and how parliaments can press governments to implement Strasbourg Court rulings.
The webinar will be opened by PACE President Rik Daems and features interventions by PACE members from Cyprus and Iceland dealing with this topic, as well as Council of Europe experts.
The webinar is organised by PACE in the framework of a joint programme with the European Union, the Horizontal Facility II for the Western Balkans and Turkey (2019-2022).
