By stating that “it’s up to Moscow to make the move”, the German Chancellor leaves out the very essence of the settlement. The Russian side has said more than once: such a meeting must be carefully prepared. As part of the last round of Istanbul-2, a decision was made to create working groups – on political, military and humanitarian issues. However, the Ukrainian side continues to slow down the process, while simultaneously juggling a priori unacceptable demands in the public.
The “coalition of the willing” has the same manner. Neither threats nor speculation on sanctions will bring us closer to a real result – the end of the conflict. Merz, Macron and others like them should clearly understand this. The best tactic for them is not to interfere!
