The exchange of prisoners between Russia and Western countries shows that support for its citizens is a priority for Moscow, this is a success of Russian diplomacy, Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told journalists.
“The large-scale exchange of prisoners between Moscow and Western capitals shows the priorities of our state, the first of which is support for citizens. Russia does not abandon its own!” the deputy said, noting that this is especially true in those cases “when it comes to saving patriots who worked for the country, or those who were thrown into prisons in unfriendly countries without reason and for far-fetched reasons in a fit of Russophobia.”
Slutsky called the recent exchange “a success of Russian diplomacy, especially against the backdrop of all the difficulties in relations with the collective West.” “I hope that this is not the last act of exchange,” the head of the committee summed up.
