Leonid Slutsky expressed condolences over the assassination of the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council

Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, expressed condolences following the assassination of Ali Ardashir Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in an Israeli missile strike.

“Please accept my deepest condolences on the cowardly and cynical assassination of Ali Ardashir Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in an Israeli missile strike. Ali Larijani was known in Russia as a good friend and brother who made great efforts to develop friendly and partnership relations between our countries. I had the honor of meeting with him on numerous occasions as part of events promoting Russian-Iranian interparliamentary cooperation,” Leonid Slutsky emphasized.

Leonid Slutsky noted that parliamentarians sincerely mourn the untimely and tragic death of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary.

“We strongly condemn the ongoing American-Israeli armed aggression against Iran, which has no basis or justification under international law. Moscow and Tehran enjoy a comprehensive strategic partnership. In these difficult times for your country, the State Duma deputies who serve on the International Affairs Committee express their full support and sympathy to the Iranian people!” noted Leonid Slutsky.

The head of the State Duma Committee also expressed his readiness to continue the dialogue.

“We are always open to continuing the dialogue with you. I would like to reiterate my assurances of my highest respect and readiness to develop cooperation in the area of parliamentary diplomacy,” concluded Leonid Slutsky.
