
A meeting was held via videoconference between First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov and the Friendship Group with Russia of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The parties highly appreciated the current level of bilateral cooperation, including in the field of inter-parliamentary relations. They expressed confidence that Russia and Venezuela are linked by time-tested strong ties of friendship and relations in the spirit of strategic partnership that are not subject to political conjuncture.
The participants of the meeting exchanged views on large-scale changes in global politics and spoke in favor of further close cooperation between our countries in the international arena, in particular at the UN, in the interests of creating a multipolar world and consolidating progressive forces in the fight against neocolonialism, as well as against raising neo-fascism and neo-Nazism.
The parties agreed to hold the next meeting via videoconference shortly after the parliamentary elections in Venezuela on May 25, 2025.
The conversation took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere. From the Russian side, it was also attended by Deputy Coordinator of the State Duma’s “friendship group” with Venezuela, Deputy Chairman of the Control Committee Georgy Kamnev; Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Property, Land and Property Relations Alexey Kornienko; member of the State Duma’s “friendship group” with Venezuela, member of the Defense Committee Tatyana Kusayko.
