January, 14 Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation Kazem Jalali. Questions of the bilateral cooperation, including in the parliamentary sphere, as well as the situation in the region.
“During our exchange of views, we touched upon the situation that had developed after the barbaric assassination of IRGC General Kassem Suleymani and the tragic crash of the Ukranian Boeing-737 in the sky over Tehran. Once again the condolences were expressed to the Iranian people, as well as to relatives and close friends of the victims of the crash regardless of their citizenship and nationality”, said Leonid Slutsky.
The Chairman of the Committee added that Russian deputies and Mr Ambassador share long and constructive relations since his work in the Commission on Foreign Affairs and Defence of the Mejlis (Parliament) of Iran. ” We for our part have reaffirmed our commitment to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation after the parliamentary elections in Iran on February 21″, Mr Slutsky concluded.
