Leonid Slutsky: Russia plays a central role in the formation of a new world order

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky took part in the opening of the conference “New World Order: Formation of a Multipolar World and the Role of Russia”, organized by the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Leonid Slutsky noted that today is the time when a new system of world politics and international relations is being created. “The new world order is being formed around the ideas and approaches of the President of Russia, including those expressed by him at the Munich Security Conference in 2007: this is a multipolar world order, where each country, its traditions, history, culture, religion, national language are a separate pole,” he said.

The head of the committee added that the formation of a multipolar world order is the foundation for building a secure and prosperous world architecture of the 21st century. “These trends oppose the efforts of the “golden billion” to establish their own hegemony, and in fact, to draw humanity into the Third World War,” he said, noting that this is the only way that will allow the earthly civilization to create a stable world architecture of the 21st century. “And Russia plays a central role in the construction of a new fair world order,” the deputy emphasized. Leonid Slutsky believes that the new global majority has already been formed – these are the countries of the Global South, a significant part of the countries of Eurasia, including countries that are part of the new integration blocs: the EAEU, SCO, BRICS. “I am confident that the new world order will be multipolar, with the leading role of the UN, with a single and indivisible security space, with respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, with the right of each country to decide its own destiny. The point of no return has been passed. There is a return to common sense,” the Chairman of the Committee concluded.
