Opening of the exhibition dedicated to Andrei Karlov

The State Duma solemnly opened a photo exhibition dedicated to the memory of the Soviet and Russian diplomat Andrei Karlov. The organizer of the exposition, which is called “Andrei Karlov. The Way to Immortality “, the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs delivered a speech.

Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Peter Tolstoy added that the exposition is dedicated to a man who died in his military post. “He is an example for modern Russian diplomats. This is the rare case when one can say that he fulfilled his duty, and the name of Andrei Karlov will remain forever in the history of our country, “he said.

Chairman of the faction “United Russia”, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Sergei Neverov noted that by opening the exhibition within the precincts of the Chamber, the deputies pay tribute to the fortitude and strength of the spirit of Andrei Karlov. “This outstanding Soviet and Russian diplomat gave himself up to the last for the sake of serving his country,” he said.

“Today we are opening a landmark exhibition dedicated to our friend Andrei Karlov. He effectively worked first in the Korean direction, and then in Turkey, where he gave himself up to the end. It is largely thanks to him in Turkey’s Antalya on October 8-11 that the third meeting of the Eurasian speakers will take place, “said Leonid Slutsky, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Foreign Affairs, opening the exhibition.

According to the leader of the LDPR faction, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the country will always remember Karlov. “We are particularly sad for this loss, because two months before the incident the delegation of the faction flew to Turkey and was perfectly accepted by Andrei Karlov. We will never forget him, “he said.

The head of the faction “Fair Russia” Sergei Mironov proposed to assign his name to the Far Eastern Federal University. “The name of this outstanding diplomat who alone and without tools defended the interests of Russia, named the street in Moscow, the prize at MGIMO, the Center for Arts in Ankara. We propose that his name also be appropriated to FEFU, “he said.

The opening was also attended by Karlova’s wife Marina Karlova, who heads the International Charitable Foundation for the Care of Children with Severe Diseases and Serious Diseases named after Andrei Karlov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Russian Federation, Mr. Hüssein Diriosa, Turkish businessmen Naki Kaarslan, deputy head of the Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo Alexander Radkov.
