The International Affairs Committee has recommended ratifying the Protocol on the Extension of the Russian-Chinese Agreement on Notifications of Ballistic and Space Missile Launches until December 16, 2030. The corresponding bill was submitted for consideration by the Government of the Russian Federation on July 22.
The document was presented at the meeting of the Committee by State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Nikolai Pankov. He said that “the protocol was developed in order to extend the legal regime established by the Agreement for the period until December 16, 2030”.
The agreement, as indicated in turn in the explanatory note, defines the obligations of the parties to notify each other about the upcoming and completed launches of ballistic and space launch vehicles, the time frame for the provision of such notifications, their validity period, as well as the list of data contained in the notifications. “The continuation of the implementation of the Agreement in accordance with the signed Protocol for the period until December 16, 2030 is in the interests of the Russian Federation,” added the Chairman of the Committee Leonid Slutsky.
It was proposed to consider the issue of ratification of the protocol at a meeting of the State Duma on October 26.
