Treaty with Indonesia on mutual extradition of criminals ratified

The State Duma ratified the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Indonesia on the extradition of criminals.

The document is aimed at more effective cooperation in the fight against crime and stipulates that Russia and Indonesia “undertake, upon request, to extradite persons located in the territory of the requested party and wanted by the requesting party for the purposes of criminal prosecution or execution of a sentence.”

According to the document, an offense is extraditable “if it is a criminal offense under the legislation of each State Party and carries a penalty of imprisonment for a term of at least one year or more.”
