The United Kingdom welcomes new US sanctions against Russia in connection with the incident in Salisbury, RIA Novosti reported in the office of the Prime Minister of Great Britain.
Earlier, the US State Department reported that a new package of sanctions against Russia is being prepared because of an incident in the British city of Salisbury.
“The United Kingdom welcomes these new actions on the part of our US allies. A strong international response to the use of chemical weapons in Salisbury sends a clear signal to Russia that its provocative, reckless behavior will not be unrequited, “the British government said in a statement.
In the English city of Salisbury on March 4, according to allegations of the British authorities, former GRU officer Sergey Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned, which provoked a major international scandal. London believes that the Russian state is involved in the poisoning using substance A234. Moscow categorically denies it. The US sided with its ally, sending 60 Russian diplomats out of the country, but so formally they did not draw any conclusions about the Russian involvement in the poisoning.
