
On April 12, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with President of the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq Nechirvan Barzani on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
The sides discussed some practical aspects of the further development of Russia’s traditionally friendly relations with Iraq ad Iraqi Kurdistan. They reaffirmed their mutual interest in strengthening multifaceted cooperation, including the implementation of joint fuel and energy projects in the autonomous Kurdistan Region.
They also exchanged views on the military-political situation in the Middle East, noting the importance of consolidating international efforts to bring about a political and diplomatic settlement of all conflict situations in the region and focusing on Syria in this context.
