On March 14, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke by telephone with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco Nasser Bourita, at the latter’s initiative.
The foreign ministers focused on the prospects for developing traditionally friendly Russian-Moroccan relations. Sergey Lavrov and Nasser Bourita supported a regular political dialogue and the promotion of bilateral trade and economic ties. In this context, they emphasised the important coordinating role of the Intergovernmental Joint Russia-Morocco Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the 8th regular session of which is scheduled to take place in Moscow this year.
In discussing regional issues, the ministers reaffirmed the need to settle the conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa under the universally recognised principles of international law and a balance of interests of all parties concerned.
