The United States, because of the alleged use of chemical weapons by Russia in Salisbury, will introduce new sanctions against Moscow on August 22, the State Department said.
It is noted that restrictive measures will come into force 15 days after the congressional notification.
In the US Foreign Ministry believe that the agent of the nerve agent “Novice” was used in circumvention of international law and the Convention on the prohibition of the use of chemical weapons.
The second package of sanctions against Russia because of the incident in Salisbury will be introduced in three months, if Moscow does not fulfill the demands put forward by the US.
On the forthcoming restrictions, the United States on Wednesday notified Russia. “Yes, we informed the Russians,” said the representative of the agency. He specified that the US administration informed the Kremlin about the measures being taken on Wednesday afternoon, but refused to give details.
