A petition demanding the resumption of air communication between Ukraine and Russia appeared on the site of President Vladimir Zelensky. The author of the appeal stated that the ban negatively affects Ukrainians who cannot meet with members of their families. Earlier, a petition was published demanding the organization of railway communication between Ukraine and Crimea, RIA Novosti reports.
Within a few hours, dozens of people voted. In order for the Ukrainian leader to begin the consideration, the petition must be supported by at least 25 thousand people within three months. The flight connection with Russia was canceled by the decision of the Ukrainian authorities in the fall of 2015.
The petition concerning the railway communication with Crimea was published by a former resident of Sevastopol. According to him, now it is expensive and long to travel to Crimea from Ukraine. Bus and train flights between Ukraine and the peninsula were canceled in 2014.
The authorities of Crimea supported the initiative to return the railway communication. Deputies of the State Duma of Russia also reacted positively to the termination of the transport blockade of Crimea by Ukraine. According to the deputy Mikhail Sheremet, the launch of trains will benefit Ukraine itself. Sheremet noted that the number of Ukrainians coming to Crimea is growing despite all the obstacles perpetrated by the Ukrainian authorities.
