The US House of Representatives on Thursday backed a lend-lease act that aims to expedite military assistance to Ukraine, according to a live broadcast of the session.
The bill has already garnered a majority required for it to pass, and the vote is still going on. The Senate earlier also endorsed the bill. It now has to be signed by US President Joe Biden.
The bill states it aims “to provide enhanced authority for the President to enter into agreements with the Government of Ukraine to lend or lease defense articles to that Government to protect civilian populations in Ukraine from Russian military invasion, and for other purposes.”.
