Dmitry Belik called “empty and ridiculous” US accusations of cyberattacks by “Russian hackers”

Dmitry Belik, a member of the State Duma International Affairs Committee, in an interview with RT, commented on the call of American Senators Chuck Grassley and Johnny Ernst about the need to protect the agricultural sector from cyberattacks due to “Russian hackers”.
According to him, the senators’ rhetoric “does not stand up to any criticism.”

“This is not only funny, but also frightening with its absurdity. Now the turn has come to the agricultural sector, and what will happen next? Will they look for the notorious “Russian trace” in a pack of cornflakes? Unfortunately, this farce has already become traditional and almost central to Washington’s foreign policy agenda, ”Belik said.

The parliamentarian believes that Washington uses the “enemy” from the outside to intimidate its own citizens, “which can be unfoundedly accused of all problems.”

“I want to remind you that our president voiced several proposals for cooperation in the field of cybersecurity between Russia and the United States, as well as around the world. But instead of cooperating with Russia in strengthening international information security, the United States continues to come out with empty and ridiculous accusations, which, like others like them, are not supported by any evidence, ”concluded Belik.

Earlier, US Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst sent a letter to US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mallorcas, in which they stated the need to ensure the cybersecurity of the country’s agricultural sector.

The reason for this was the recent attacks by hackers allegedly linked to Russia.
