Member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Dmitry Belik, in an interview with RT, commented on the statement by US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland that the United States is working with Germany and the European Union to slow down the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
According to the parliamentarian, among the political elite of the United States, “the desire to slow down the commissioning of the gas pipeline has long turned into an obsession.”
“Nuland’s statement speaks for itself: they are working to slow down consideration of the pipeline implementation. And thus they demonstrate the fear that the gas pipeline is able to make the United States, promoting its liquefied natural gas in the EU, more competition in the energy sector,” the deputy said.
Earlier, Nuland said she was working on delaying the gas pipeline and also noted that the German government had already taken significant steps towards this.
