The discussion in the Channel One studio began with the broadcast of speeches by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The first of them accused the West of wanting to solve the “Russian question” following Hitler and Napoleon. Putin, in turn, recalled that in 1941-1945, representatives of various Western countries fought against the USSR.
In this regard, the participants of the program drew parallels with today’s events, including around Ukraine. They noted that Western political elites are ready to unleash a global conflict with far-reaching consequences for the sake of their ambitions.
As Dmitry Novikov noted, the topic raised by the participants of the discussion is extremely important. According to him, the generations of politicians who went through the Second World War thought much deeper. Having gone through personal trials, they were much more thoughtful about the fate of the world. In addition, they were helped by the personal level of their culture and education. And it was much higher than today’s.
The Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation emphasized: “These people absorbed not only personal experience, but also the experience of generations, civilizations, historical periods and phenomena. And they could extrapolate this experience to the present. And today in the West the level of political culture is seriously reduced. Let’s take diplomacy. It has always had levels – public and closed. Everyone agreed with this, because the presence of the second level helped to resolve conflict situations. And now we will find out how French President Macron arranged for journalists to listen in on his conversation with Putin. We see how Xi Jinping at the famous summit reprimands the Canadian premier for revealing information coming through closed diplomatic channels.”
As the guest of the studio continued, because of the irresponsibility of officials, the whole world politics has become different. Previously, Novikov recalled, everything was clearly placed in its place. Stalin called Hitler a fascist. Stalin’s longtime opponent Churchill also called Hitler a fascist. And Hitler himself called himself a fascist. Today, the West and its agents are trying to present Zelensky as a democrat who has nothing to do with fascism and Nazism!
As an example, Dmitry Novikov cited the statements of Yanina Sokolovskaya, a participant in the Time Will Show program, who whitewashes Zelensky, ignoring the facts of street renaming and the demolition of monuments in Ukraine. The representative of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation emotionally noted: “The fact that they cleared out all the opposition there, closed the opposition media and banned parties, bombed the Donbass, and some deputies undertook to expel others from the Rada who went through electoral procedures – this, as we are assured from the West, is democracy! »
“When people’s thinking,” the speaker continued, “with their state, evaluative, expert approaches, such a mess reigns in their heads, it is very difficult to find a common language with them. Before you talk to someone, you must agree on concepts. What is war and what is peace, what is fascism and what is anti-fascism… How else can we negotiate with you?!”
Dmitry Novikov referred to the plot shown as part of the program. Hockey player Ivan Provorov, playing in the USA, refused to go on the ice in a sports uniform with LGBT symbols. The Philadelphia Flyers hockey club coach John Tortorella called for respect for the player’s convictions and refused to put Provorov on the bench. This caused an angry reaction in the American media. The Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation noted the indicativeness of such facts: “An experienced person who has coached teams, many players, is forced to go to a press conference and explain in an apologetic voice that he will not expel a hockey player who plays well and who has his own convictions. What kind of world is this?
Dmitry Georgievich asked Yanina Sokolovskaya to explain whether it was strange for her to live in such a world. The communist deputy’s opponent evaded a direct answer. Instead, she stated that in fact the United States and Russia have similar values. Both countries, she believes, are engaged in reshaping the world. “Russia is engaged in the de-occupation of the Ukrainian people,” Novikov objected. “And so that other politicians don’t have porridge in their heads, they will have to go through a period of important historical lessons, learn to negotiate and speak the same language.”
The host of the program, Anatoly Kuzichev, commenting on the statements made, expressed the opinion that Russia, by its actions, stood up for the Russians living in Ukraine. The deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party considered it necessary to clarify: “We stood up not only for the Russians, but also for the Ukrainians. So that they are not turned into an appendage of colonial empires. After all, we heard comments from US officials today that Lavrov’s words about the West’s aggressive goals against Russia are ridiculous. Doesn’t this remind you of anything? We have already been told that the genocide of Russians in the Donbass is ridiculous. When there are no arguments for a serious, meaningful discussion of the problem and there is no desire to reach an agreement, accusations begin – that is ridiculous, that is ridiculous. Blood is shed there, but they laugh.”
US President Joe Biden, meanwhile, promised to help Ukraine return Crimea. As Dmitry Novikov noted, against the background of such statements, tIt is even more strange that representatives of the West are indignant at Lavrov’s indications of the aggressiveness of this very West. From this, he stressed, fascism begins – from the fact that certain forces first declare their nations exceptional, and then sum up the solution of specific military tasks under these estimates.
According to the representative of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the West is going to break the established norms of international relations because, according to the existing rules, it can no longer win. His actions, he stressed, “are not a sign of strength, but a sign of the hysteria of those who believe that tomorrow their plans for domination may be exhausted. All this can stop. That is why they so need right now to try to grab hold of the remnants of their hegemony. But it will end anyway.”
