Svetlana Zhurova: “RUSADA opened with help of the IOC”

The commission of athletes of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) contributed to the regain of rights of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), the first deputy chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, the Olympic champion in speed skating Svetlana Zhurova said.

“I am absolutely positive at the moment considering the decision of the executive committee of WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency – Ed.) regarding RUSADA. Undoubtedly, there are certain conditions that we will have to fulfill, but I am sure that the agreements on them have already been achieved,” said Svetlana Zhurova.

“I would especially like to say words of gratitude from the IOC Athletes Commission, because, most likely, the members of this executive committee reacted positively to the recommendations given by this commission,” added Zhurova.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs is sure that “if RUSADA fully works in the territory of such a large country as Russia, it means that all anti-doping rules will be preserved.”

Svetlana Zhurova also stressed that for the Russian Federation the restoration of the rights of the anti-doping agency is “an opportunity to once again demonstrate to the whole world that our sport has cleared itself of those moments that we had, that all the remarks that were presented to us, we eliminated.”
