Russia and China have taken a significant step in strengthening their relations following Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s visit to Beijing. The recently signed documents and a joint statement on the nature of bilateral ties contain ideas that previously seemed unlikely for Sino-Russian agreements, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Vyacheslav Nikonov announced in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda Radio.
Nikonov emphasized that these documents provided a clear assessment of American policy in Iran. They also formulated a clear joint position on Ukraine, based on the recognition of current realities and the need to address the origins of the conflict. According to him, China unequivocally supported Russia on all important political issues currently troubling the country.
“And, of course, this shared commitment to essentially creating a philosophy of a multipolar world and its practices… This is, in my view, a very significant step forward—even compared to previous meetings,” the deputy said.
Life.ru previously reported that during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China, the two sides signed a joint declaration opposing hegemony and the unilateral efforts of individual states to determine the global agenda. The Chinese Foreign Ministry added that Moscow and Beijing had reached an important consensus on developing bilateral relations.
