The Russian President’s address at the Valdai Forum is comparable in scale to his historic Munich speech

Vladimir Putin has issued a direct warning to the West regarding the danger of a global catastrophe and the responsibility for the future. “If a gun is hanging on the wall at the start of a play, it must inevitably go off”—this is a direct message to those who continue to stoke fears of a “Russian threat” and use this pretext to drive militarization and an arms race.

The EU leadership would be making a grave mistake to ignore the Russian leader’s appeals once again. One-sided approaches, blind aggression, and a proxy war against our country will sooner or later result in irreparable consequences for the Brussels establishment. The decline of Europe is a very real prospect, driven by a reckless policy of supporting neo-Nazism in Ukraine.

The European Union clings to neo-colonial ambitions fueled by Russophobia. To achieve the goal of weakening Russia, the Banderite regime in Ukraine was chosen as a battering ram. The result: billions of euros squandered, the Eurozone economy and industry in a near-comatose state without Russian energy resources, a mounting migration crisis, and the approval ratings of the “war party’s” proponents in freefall.

What is to be done? Vladimir Putin has provided the answer: the future lies in multipolarity. This is inevitable. To avoid a continental collapse, European capitals need to stop thinking about war and start considering the creation of a new Eurasian security architecture—while the window of opportunity remains open.
