Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, said statements by the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about the conditions for establishing relations between Moscow and Washington, called hypocrisy that creates obstacles in the way of building bilateral relations between Russia and the United States.
“Mr. Pompeo is misleading the public, shifting the blame for the ruined relations to our country. It was at the initiative of the United States that a rabid anti-Russian campaign was launched, in which American russophobes are trying to draw other countries. Sanctions, the breakdown of bilateral agreements on strategic issues, incitement to provocations against our country, the seizure of our diplomatic property, pressure on the Russian media, cyber attacks and information war – this is not a complete list of methods of conducting international relations in the American way.
At the same time, the State Department is trying to turn the obvious facts on its head, including Russia’s attitude to the situation in Venezuela. It turns out that Russia and for some reason Cuba are “starving” the people of Venezuela, and not at all the United States, who staged a total blockade of the Bolivarian Republic in an attempt to change the power in any way by the country. The pseudo-humanitarian aid that the United States is trying to bring into Venezuela is nothing but a “Trojan horse,” with the help of which another attempt will be made to export the “color revolution” to a sovereign country, ”the politician said.
According to the parliamentarian: “Russia is ready for an equal and mutually respectful dialogue with the United States, even in the current, extremely acute situation. But Washington only declares a desire to cooperate, but in fact completely ignores any proposals and opportunities for negotiation, whatever the issue, be it the INF Treaty, cyber security, the situation in Ukraine, Syria or Venezuela. ”
